This book, which took amazing determination and fortitude to write, is a gift to the reader and anyone who hears the survival story of Bonni Brodnick. It was written while recovering ( not after) from a serious stroke which occurred while driving on a highway with only Bonni’s mother as a passenger. Quick thinking by her mother, and the kindness of a passing stranger, resulted in Bonni’s survival, however, Bonni was left with a long list of obstacles to be overcome before she could resume the active life she once joyfully engaged in. Interwoven amidst a myriad of doctor’s and therapy visits is Bonni at her keyboard, struggling to remember and tap out the right words to tell her story, even though she wasn’t yet sure of the conclusion. She very generously brings us along for her journey back to “normal”, inspiring us and educating us about stroke survival and symptoms. With each new skill re-gained, we rejoice. I turned the last page in awe of Bonni’s strength, grit, and genuine love for life, and must be better informed about strokes. An inspiring, worthwhile read.
