She started with something little like the wisp of an idea
and ended up with a BIG business that is known worldwide for serious collectors
of miniatures and dollhouses. We are saddened to learn that Eileen Godfrey,
c0-owner of Eileen Godfrey Miniatures in Pound Ridge, has passed away.
A purveyor of the lilliputian, Eileen traveled the globe
to accumulate collections of one-of-a-kind pieces to fully-equip everything you
would ever need to build/furnish/update your dollhouse. Items included outstanding
miniature inlaid French desks, English highboys, dinnerware from Holland, tiny
hand-made food (I swear, you never saw a smaller bunch of grapes in your life),
silver antiques and tea sets, statues, gold framed original oil paintings, hand-woven rugs
from the Himalayas … all no bigger than nano-size.
Co-owner of the shop and son, Craig Scolaro, will carry
the mini-torch. We wish him much continued success and will long-remember his
mother, Eileen, as a beautiful, joyful and kind-hearted maestra of miniatures who
delighted in furnishing the world ... one little room at a time.
